The Bushbuck is an elusive and solitary sub-Saharan African antelope. Its preferred habitat is dense bush at the base of mountains, densely forested areas and along river courses. Respected for its fearlessness among African hunters the Bushbuck male if cornered or wounded will fight bravely and if attacked can become a formidable adversary.

In 2005 I designed a 48 inch reflex/deflex youth bow which packed a surprising punch for its size. This led me to experiment with a few full size versions. I received inquiries from a few avid South African bow hunters who required a compact and maneuverable hunting bow suitable for the dense bush terrain- the favorite habitat of the Bushbuck antelope.

This eventually led to the birth of a hybrid bow with an attitude which I aptly named after its namesake, the Bushbuck antelope. Ever since, the Bushbuck bow has earned several accolades from hunting grounds all across the globe, and numerous gold and provincial cup winnings in competitive archery.

Being a hybrid bow, the Bushbuck has a balanced blend of the best qualities that both the recurve and longbow has to offer - all compacted into one dynamic work piece.

The reflex-deflex limb profile and a combination of tapered bamboo core laminations makes for a balanced and ultra smooth drawing bow which has very responsive limb return properties.

The Bushbuck is a fast and very stable bow with no hand shock, and is compatible with high performance bow string materials.
