My first introduction to bowmaking began with selfbows. After building several hundred selfbows of different styles and materials, I had a fair idea on the properties of wood, the functional properties of bows and what their limitations were. So the fall of 2003 led me to building my first fibreglass laminated bow. 

Needless to say, I made a few mistakes and had some disastrous failures before finally getting it right!

After a series of redesign alterations and ample field testing, mid 2004 opened the door to the production of the first of many Buffalo Longbows. 

Over time the Buffalo Longbow’s riser, limb dimensions, core materials and cross sectional design has seen some minor changes but the limb profile remained unchanged as I was satisfied with the bow’s performance.

To date the Buffalo Longbow has seen numerous successes in both 3D tournaments and on hunting grounds all across the world. 

Trapezoidal in cross-section, the Buffalo Longbow’s limbs are deep cored and around 1 ¼” wide at the fades, merging into ½” wide tips. 

When braced, the lines of the Buffalo Longbow embrace and follow the classic lines of the traditional longbow, while its reflexed limbs offers the archer a very responsive and stable shooting longbow.
